After winning the Garden Competition, Year 2 had a vote and decided to spend our £20 winnings on a party for the class. We decided to do a 'Hawaiian' theme and we all had lots of fun!
Welcome To Year 2
The Year Two team consists of Miss Hayden and Mrs Ewers. Miss Hayden is available to speak to at the end of the day through Class Dojo or via phone.
We begin each day with Phonics, English & Maths and do Whole Class Reading one morning per week. In addition, children will be read with individually at least once per week. Lessons that are part of the wider curriculum are usually taught in the afternoon including: History, Geography, Science, P.E, Art, Music, PSHE, R.E and D&T. Homework is sent home weekly including: Online Reading, Spellings and Online Maths. Our Topics this year include:
· Toys (History topic)
· Local Area (Geography topic)
· Polar Regions (Geography topic)
· The Seaside (History topic)
Please refer to the curriculum handbook on the school website to explore these topics further.
Children will take their Key Stage 1 SATS during the month of May. This is something that we work towards but it does not limit the opportunities available to the children in Year Two as they receive a wide and varied curriculum beyond the core subjects of Maths and English. Information about the SATs is communicated through two Sats meetings: one in the Autumn term and one in the Spring term. If you are unable to attend these meetings, please let a member of the Year Two team know as we are more than happy to provide a copy of the information provided during the meetings.
PE lessons are every Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Please make sure your child comes to school wearing their P.E kit on these days.
After school clubs include Multi-Skills which is run by the ‘Progressive Sports’ team. This will be every Friday 3:15pm-4:00pm and is available to children in Key Stage 1.
If you would like any further advice or guidance on how to support your child at home then please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year Two team. We thank you for your continued support.
